Facade Progress

By now, you’ve probably gathered that we get a kick out of tracking our progress and keeping all of you updated accordingly. Therefore it probably comes as no surprise that we’re even more excited than usual to present today’s #SiteVisit photo(s). How can that be, you ask? We put together a time-lapse collage that beautifully shows the strides we’ve made on our facade.

It’s exciting to see the progression of where we’ve been to where we are today. Each week brings more changes and we’ll continue to keep you up to speed.

Q: How many square feet is The Godfrey’s façade, including windows?

A: 104,695 square feet which is the equivalent of 2.4 acres!

Northern Exposure

We were able to take the skip (a specialized waste container that holds construction debris) down because two out of the three elevators in the hotel are now up and running. Now that the skip has come down the paneling on the north side of the building will be finished and the upper floors of the building will be completely enclosed shortly after. We continue to make progress at the hotel everyday. Today we have more work happening at the entrance of the hotel on Huron Street. Our goal? Make the entrance approachable and one to remember. Check out our last blog post for more pics on the lobby.

Welcome! We’re pleased to share an update on our lobby – where you’ll check in and we’ll welcome you. Many argue the hotel lobby is the most important space in a hotel. We understand that thinking – it’s our first impression and last impression. Plus, it is a common meeting and gathering place. So needless to say, we get it. And to no surprise, we’re sparing nothing on our lobby.

We look forward to greeting you in the lobby in February 2014!

Pre-Planning Payoff

As our blog shows firsthand, there’s so much more to a hotel than meets the eye. There are countless meetings, appointments and sessions that take place to map out a property long before the ground breaks. One such amenity that requires strategic planning is wireless internet. All of our rooms will have access to wi-fi, even the 220th room on the top floor, thanks to pre-planning and an abundance of wire:

This equipment is only for half a floor! The rest is safely hidden behind the dry wall. As we continue to build, we place ourselves in the guest’s shoes to see how we can offer the best experience. We hope that our pre-planning will help you Discover Your Element.
