Staying Warm

Salamander Heater Godfrey Hotel

The construction crew works all day and since the hotel doesn’t have a skin up yet, they have to stay warm.  One way they do that is by blocking the wind by wrapping the building and the other is by utilizing the largest salamander heaters we have ever seen!  These heaters put out so much heat only a few are needed on a floor and are over 1 1/2 feet wide in diameter.

The Building

Here she is, well a very early version of her, right in the heart of the River North Neighborhood in Chicago.  Our building was originally built as different hotel but the company that was behind the project, well lets just say it didn’t end well for them, didn’t finish it.  This is where several years later our company came in, purchased the property and decided to build the Godfrey Hotel Chicago.

Working during the colder months, the building remains wrapped as you can see from the corner of Huron at LaSalle.
