A Good #sitevisitfriday

On Good Friday last week we went to the site to see an update on the new hotel. We can say it is definitely coming along and it was a beautiful day to see the city from our floors. The process of development of the hotel has to happen in phases, with so many different teams working together it is important they all coordinate on each process. Development and construction meetings take place weekly with updates to the team. Stay tuned for an update on the front of the building with the outside skin being applied.

Now that the fire proofing is complete on the building a lone pipe sits where the hose was connected to the sprayer to deliver the product.

As the Director of Sales and Marketing opening a brand new hotel you have to think to yourself, “What is the community and culture of the people where our new hotel is located?” A hotel needs to take a large role in the community, thus it is very important it participates. Your hotel provides employment, creates tourism and provides a location for locals to meet for events. A hotel can be a catalyst in an area to drive business, allow people to connect and help the community move forward together.

From a sales stand point a hotel needs to know the locals to help them succeed in their community. Do they have meetings? Do they have people traveling into town? I wrote an article for a blog titled Liz King Events out of NYC that in a summary states, success comes from stability in your network (family, friends and business connections) and a focus on helping those around you succeed will be returned by them to you and then you truly will find success.

Take time to meet the people who live in your community and be social. Learn who works there, who lives there, who travels there. The definition of a community is “a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage.” As a hotel we are now a part of the community and are excited to moving it forward and making it better with everyone else.

Keep an eye out for me in the area at local charity events, parties, functions and out in the community introducing myself and saying hi. I am familiar with the Chicago area but became a new resident of River North a few months ago and am excited about this community and connections it holds.

What A View #sitevisitfriday

Today when we walked the property we decided since it was sunny out to show you the views from the hotel and wow are they beautiful. In addition as you saw from last week, our walk had pictures of the lower back section of the hotel skin that was installed. In keeping the project moving along we had new siding for the front of the building delivered. It was a quick #sitevisitfriday but I can tell you the project is coming along very well. We will start diving into branding and marketing more in the coming posts so stay tuned.

Fun In The Sun #sitevisitfriday

The sun was out for our #sitevisitfriday tour, we noticed some cool things taking place and want to share then with you. The back side of the lower section of the hotel skin is up and complete. Stay tuned for more outside skin being applied soon!

After the skin was complete a little testing took place, in the video you can see water testing on the seams for leaks.

As if we were in London and you hear “Mind The Gap”. On the construction site with the core drilling and holes being make it is “Mind The Holes”. The team does a great job letting us know where there are holes.

The old construction site sat for a long time so we needed to remove all the old fire proofing on the building and apply new. Remember, safety is key.

From all that core drilling, the valves for the plumbing are waiting patiently to be installed in each room.
