Pre-Planning Payoff

As our blog shows firsthand, there’s so much more to a hotel than meets the eye. There are countless meetings, appointments and sessions that take place to map out a property long before the ground breaks. One such amenity that requires strategic planning is wireless internet. All of our rooms will have access to wi-fi, even the 220th room on the top floor, thanks to pre-planning and an abundance of wire:

This equipment is only for half a floor! The rest is safely hidden behind the dry wall. As we continue to build, we place ourselves in the guest’s shoes to see how we can offer the best experience. We hope that our pre-planning will help you Discover Your Element.

Functional Design

One of The Godfrey’s trademark architectural design elements includes exposed trusses; not only do the trusses serve as a unique visual but they also play a crucial role in supporting the weight of the building. Below are photos of the exposed truss on the west side of The Godfrey. The trusses are nearing completion:

Fun fact: truss is derived from the Old French word “trousse”, which translates to a “collection of things bound together”.

Going up!

This #SiteVisit Friday we have another new development to unveil: elevators!

This is one of three elevators at The Godfrey, however this is the main set of elevators for our guests. These guys reside in the lobby and will be getting lots of use soon.

They will be up and running in no time. Stay tuned for more #SiteVisit updates!

Amenity Announcement

One important aspect of building The Godfrey includes selecting the best washroom amenities that most closely align with our property’s brand. It’s a decision that’s based upon a variety of factors and extensive industry research. Not surprisingly, The Washington Post reports that high end bath amenities are a key distinguishing factor that separate luxury properties from budget hotels. When the time came to determine the brand that would supply our bath amenities we wanted a name that future customers would trust; a company whose products are luxurious, indulgent and of the utmost quality. Window Installation 101

Do you ever wonder how windows are installed?

Thanks to this handy window suction device we’re able to securely install each window on the exterior of the building:

There’s a motor on the unit that raises and lowers the windows that are attached to the device. There are three suctions total that attach to each window. It’s quite an efficient mechanism that gets the job done safely.
