Party Time at I|O Urban Roofscape

I|O Urban Roofscape is the place to be now that The Godfrey Hotel has opened! We have had several organizations host parties, lunches and other events in the rooftop space so far. On Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2013, Stimulus Social Club hosted a Mercy for Animals benefit, which was also the first official event at I|O.

Inner Workings of The Godfrey Hotel Sign

In a new article by Blake Thorne on MLive.com, we get the lowdown on where our gorgeous illuminated sign comes from! The Godfrey Hotel’s super modern sign and canopy system was designed and installed by Signs by Crannie out of Flushing, Mich. Read more about the installation here.

And the Winner Is…

Drum roll please! The winners from our Name the Element Contest are below. Congratulations to the three winners and thank you to all who participated. The Godfrey Hotel Chicago will help travelers and guests from near and far “Discover Your Element.”

As illustrated in the graphic below, the new winning element is “Do 139” – Defy Ordinary by Michele Barnes. We loved her reasoning as well:

Not only does it capture the essence of the new hotel’s unique design, but it encourages people to think outside the box when it comes to travel and life.

As the first place winner, she will receive one complimentary night, plus a great (and discounted) rate of just $139/night plus tax for all of 2014 (some restrictions and blackout dates apply) and a $25 gift card to I|O Urban Roofscape.

Our second place winner Fred Miller, Jr. will receive a one-night complimentary stay (some restrictions and blackout dates apply). He submitted “Ul 139” for Urban Luxury.

Our third place winner Natalya Goncharov will get a $25 gift card to I|O Urban Roofscape. She submitted “Hl 139” for High Life.

The Sun Goes Down, The Godfrey Lights Up

It’s coming together! The Godfrey Hotel Chicago sign was installed this week, meaning we’re that much closer to the grand opening. It’s an architecturally unique building, and a beautiful, sleek sign during the day. Then the sun went down and we saw this:

New Flooring at I|O Urban Roofscape

Here are a couple of photos of I|O Urban Roofscape’s new wood floor made of IPE decking. This flooring will cover the entire outside of the building on the 4th floor. In the second photo, notice the special construction under the deck for flooring support, which allows for all-weather seasons and also levels the deck. Functional and looks great!
